Gili Jewels is a family-owned business with a legacy spanning four generations in the jewelry industry. Nearly a century ago, our grandfather built a successful trade in turquoise, which thrived for many years. However, as fashion trends evolved and demand for turquoise declined, we expanded into the trade of precious gemstones such as rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds. In 1983, a close friend who specialized in pearls asked us to sell his products, and the opportunity came at the perfect time. One of our largest customers was in search of a pearl supplier. Acting as the middleman, we connected our friend’s pearls with eager buyers. As demand surged, our friend eventually stopped importing pearls, leading us to take matters into our own hands. We began traveling directly to Japan to source cultured pearls, ensuring consistent quality and supply for our growing customer base.

Over the next two years, pearls became an increasingly significant part of our business, and we dedicated more time, effort, and resources to mastering the trade. However, we never lost sight of our expertise in diamonds and colored gemstones, continuing to offer a carefully curated selection of high-quality stones alongside our expanding pearl inventory. By 1985, pearls had become a primary focus, and we refined our sourcing approach by building strong relationships with pearl farms across the Far East and South Seas. Our expert buyers regularly travel to Japan, China, Australia, and Tahiti, hand-selecting the finest pearls to meet the highest standards of quality. Each pearl is carefully sorted, cleaned, and strung in our offices, ensuring that every piece we offer is crafted to perfection.
